Far more than in any other Zen table I can think of. Though what makes The Walking Dead table so much fun is that its bumpers, ramps, and corridors are set up in such a way that the ball is constantly heading for the flippers. It’s a really clever bit that not only throws you for a loop, but it got me thinking that a reverse pinball table would be fun to play on its own. Again, meeting certain requirements that I won’t spoil, there are times when you’ll find yourself briefly playing a miniature pinball table, but one where the flippers are reversed, and facing outward instead of inwards. The Walking Dead even does something we haven’t seen in many of Zen’s tables: a table inside the table. There’s even times when, if you meet certain conditions, the view changes to the scope of a sniper rifle that you can use to shoot some other zombies. In the case of The Walking Dead, what this means is that while the ball bounces off the bumpers like it has weight, and sounds like metal on wood, it also has a zombies that walk onto the table and attack people. Then imagine if you could make a pinball table that had all kinds of crazy mechanisms which would never fit inside a real table, and would make said table ridiculously expensive even if you could built it. Or maybe that’s just me having a blast with one of the best tables Zen have ever made.įor those unfamiliar with Pinball FX 2 or either version of Zen Pinball, try to imagine a spot-on simulation of a pinball machine, with all the authentic physics and sound effects of a real pinball machine. You might get a delayed reaction when trying to hit the pinball off the bumpers. It’s pretty frustrating in a pinball game, where timing is key. Occasionally when I played, I would experience lag spikes during gameplay. Once the ball goes out, you have to start over. This might frustrate players if they’re on a scoring spree.
One downside of to trying to take down Carnage-the pinball goes out a lot of times (Carnage likes to throw things). If you’re following the ball it’s pretty easy to mess up. It’s easier to play the game while viewing the whole table, with little camera movement. I checked out a few which followed the ball, but I’m not a big fan of them. You can choose up to eight different table views.

On the plus side, it boosts your score pretty quickly, so there is definitely a pay off. It’s easy to lose track of the balls going through bumpers, bouncing around everywhere. Now you have four balls at the same time. He takes the balls out-making it a multi-ball game. After you get the three balls to their designated spot, Black Spiderman crawls into the pit. Like when you get three, and then four, balls bouncing around the board. There’s lots of opportunities for chaos in this pinball game. The blocks will go down as you hit the letters. You also can get Spiderman into his black suit by hitting the “Suit” blocks. I tried multiple times and still failed to get Carnage out onto the board. Unfortunately, it’s pretty frustrating to try to get to this phase. With each correct hit you gain a letter, spelling out Carnage, ultimately letting him out of his cage. In order to face Carnage, you must spell out CARNAGE by hitting the pinball to the correct area. It is a long process to get to fight him you have to put the pinball in the exact right area, repeatedly. The goal of the game is to team up with Venom in order to take down Carnage. After having played it, I’d say it’s okay for kids to play this game. There is minor cartoon violence/fighting. There is no alcohol use, sexual themes, or language. The rating notes Fantasy Violence and Suggestive Themes as potential concerns. Zen Pinball 2: Venom Table is rated E for everyone. It’s a load of fun, and if you’re a Marvel fan and enjoy Spiderman, you’ll love this pinball table and Zen Pinball 2. The Venom Table for Zen Pinball 2 is an exciting new addition.
